Our establishment
HOTEL MERINDAD DE OLITE is in the heart of Navarre, in the town of Olite - the perfect place for rest and relaxation, where you can the region's abundant cultural, artistic and nature sites. Olite is a town with a rich history. It has medieval treasures such as its palace-castle, where the Navarre monarchy would come to rest in the 13th and 14th centuries, its underground galleries and Romanesque and Gothic churches. A visit to Olite is a trip back in time from Roman times, through the town's golden Middle Age to the 18th century when its stately houses were built. It is a charming city that stands out further for the hospitality of the local people. Our hotel is in Rúa de la Judería street, within the "Cerco de dentro", the oldest part of the city. It has a 2 star rating and was rebuilt over the remains of a Roman wall and opened to the public in 1995. It is decorated in a medieval style. We have 8 staff members who will offer you wonderful, friendly service.

Useful tourist information
Olite is at the geographical centre of Navarre. It is ideally located as a base for trips and visits to places in the surrounding area. It also has a great cultural, artistic and natural wealth in its own right.
18 km away you will find the village of Artajona, which still has its medieval enclosure, as well as two dolmens, megalithic, Stone Age tombs. Just a few kilometres away is the Roman town of Andelos, in the municipal district of Mendigorría. It is one of Navarre's main archaeological sites from the Roman period.
Heading east you will find the medieval villages of San Martín de Unx and Ujué, which stands out for its impressive Santa María church-fortress, dating from the 11th century.
10 km away is Pitillas Lake, interesting for its immense wealth of birdlife. The Oliva Monastery is a few kilometres away. It is a fine example of Cistercian style, founded in the middle of the 12th century.
Other must-see spots in Merindad de Olite are Marcilla, Funes, Deolado de Rada fort to the south and the Valdor Valley to the North.
Navarre has a wealth of landscapes and traditions, from the mountains to the rugged terrain of the Bardenes Reales (strange desert formations) in La Ribera; from the regional capital, Pamplona, to Saint James' Way (Camino de Santiago) whose two branches enter the region at Roncesvalles and Sangüesa, to join up at Puente la Reina.
In the Sangüesas region, neighbouring that of Olite to the east, you can see Javier Castle (where the patron saint of Navarre and of the missions was born), the Yesa Reservoir, the Lumbier and Arbayún canyons and Leyre Monastery.
From Olite you can go on day-outings all over the Floral Region of Navarre. The beautiful beaches of San Sebastián, Zarauz, Fuenterrabía, Hendaya, etc. are also just an hour and a half away, as are the famous ski slopes of the Aragon Pyrenees.
